The Bear Monitor.

News and comments on the Bear and octopus project.

The origin of Bear and Octops came from a meme of a diver encountering a moose in the ocean. It was obvious to me that the squid the natural enemies of Moose. A week or two after drawing the moose squid fight an other odd pairing popped into my head, bear and octopus. For the first two or more years Bear and Octpus was little more than single page gags. Early on Octopus was the inventor, after all to explore land the octopus would need some life support. This was the format until I want to say spring 2021 or 2022. On a trip to work the image of a sad bear rescued from a circus sitting in a lair faced with difficulties adjusting to freedom. The answer to the question of how the bear got free, and what happened after is a work in progress. And by in progress I mean I have a plan for about 6 chapters, I have written and drawn close to three. This project consumed my brain for several years, but stalled in the summer of 2024. The death of my cat Snowberry in June of that year was one of the first things that drew me away from the project. Other things include, spending 3 months obsessed with a set of sewing projects. It is a project that want to work on but I have found it hard to steer my attention back to a thing that I have dropped. Current projects include rebuilding this website, sewing projects, motorcycle stuff, and trying to get into art sales stuff.
